Glade Hill VA, 2 June 2011: Virginia Lieutenant Governor William T. “Bill” Bolling today announced his support for Senator William M. “Bill” Stanley, Jr. (R-Franklin) in the Republican Primary to be held on August 23.

In endorsing Stanley, the Lieutenant Governor issued the following statement:

“Over the years I have watched Bill Stanley, and have come to admire his abilities.  He has proven to be an example of principled leadership.  Even during his brief time in the Senate, Bill has demonstrated a great degree of skill in working to get legislation passed that directly benefits the citizens in his district.   Bill Stanley understands that his voice must be the voice of his constituents, and that his actions must reflect that.

“Senator Stanley has worked to make real changes to government in an effort to create a business friendly environment so that real family sustaining jobs will return to his district and across our Commonwealth.  I look forward to working with him to do just that.  I have full confidence in his proven leadership, and I am proud to endorse him in his campaign for the Virginia twentieth senate district.”

Responding to his endorsement by the Lieutenant Governor, Stanley remarked, “I’m honored to receive the support of Lieutenant Governor Bolling.  As Governor McDonnell’s “Chief Jobs Creation Officer,” the Lieutenant Governor, in partnership with Governor McDonnell, has worked nonstop to create the conditions necessary to bring jobs to our area.  I will continue to work with Lieutenant Governor Bolling to build on the success he has had in bringing good paying jobs to the citizens of the 20th district.”

The 20th District is comprised of all of Henry and Patrick Counties, the Cities of Galax and Martinsville, and portions of Carroll, Franklin, Halifax and Pittsylvania Counties, and the City of Danville.
