Glade Hill, VA, Aug. 15, 2011 – On Saturday I witnessed first-hand the results of the horrible fire at Meadows of Dan Elementary School. This fire is a terrible blow to the community and the challenges presented will be difficult. It will take time to rebuild and repair. However, I know that the residents of the region will support and help their neighbors, because we take care of our own in Southside and Southwest Virginia.” said Virginia Senator Bill Stanley.

Stanley continued “there is a call for donations, and my campaign offices will be available to receive these items. We will deliver them by truck on Friday” The offices are located at :

School Supply Needs for Meadows of Dan Students and Classrooms:
Notebook paper, spiral notebooks, binders, notebook dividers Crayons, pencils, pens, markers, high‐lighters, erasers, pencil trimmers, pencil boxes, glue sticks, scissors, construction paper, copy paper, graph paper, stapler and staples, tape and tape dispensers, sticky notes, paper clips, rubber bands, hole punches, file folders, student folders, index cards, maps, globes, calendars, dictionaries, rulers, sanitizer, tissues, books, toys, puzzles, and games.

Donations may be dropped off at any Patrick County school or in the Meadows of Dan Baptist Church fellowship hall, and at Bill Stanley For  Senate campaign offices (listed above).

The Meadows of Dan PTO has set up an account for cash donations. They made be addressed to Meadows of Dan Relief Fund at BB&T, Meadows of Dan PTO, c/o Melissa Belcher, 3607 Jeb Stuart Highway, Meadows of Dan, VA 24120.

Senator Stanley said, “I want to urge citizens from the region to join us in helping our friends and neighbors to rebuild, and to make sure that the students get the items they need to be successful. I am confident that the Meadows of Dan Elementary School will be re-built in the near future, but we must first ensure that the students’ daily educational needs are met.”
